![]() ![]() it doesn't hold your hand with world building and names so if you don't already read a lot of fantasy don't bother with this- it will be too confusing. again this is something that could have been fixed with a stronger developmental edit but some plot points were jarring. They are cheap anyway so just buy them together and read consecutively. The author ended the book at the climax of the third act and put the fourth and fifth act in the second book. you have to read book 1 and 2 to get the full story. It is a self-published novel that could have been improved with the guiding hand of a loving editor. This is definitely a novel that would have won awards if more time had been spent honing the prose and strengthening subtext. A sensitive portrayal of the costs of war and the factors that drive it on both sides.
